Auroville has so many eco friendly and sustainable initiatives accessible to all, whether you are from Auroville or just passing by as a visitor. We wanted to gather them all in one place to make them more accessible.

Auro Soya
Auro Soya, located near Naturellement, makes its fresh tofu and soy milk every morning.
How to get your tofu package free?
Call them in the morning to place your order. (Phone: 0413 262 3809)

FoodLink
FoodLink Market is a small retail outlet where one can purchase Auroville’s fresh farm produce, including fruits, eggs, vegetables, rice, cashews, and more, as well as some basic processed foods made in Auroville.
Only open in the morning Mo to Sat from 9 to 1 pm

La Ferme Cheese
Crafting artisanal cheeses since 1988, La Ferme uses sustainable methods—like biogas pasteurization, wind-powered water pumps, and recycled wastewater—to produce a wide array of natural, preservative-free cheeses like Mozarella, gruyère, gorgonzola and many more.
Tip: Pass by the production of La Ferme Cheese with your container and get package free cheese.

Marc’s café
Bring your cloth bag or container and get fresh roasted coffee beans or powder package free. They also sell chocolate powder and home-brew gear for coffee lovers.

Mason and Co
Discover locally crafted, organic, bean-to-bar chocolate made in Auroville. You can choose from a rich variety of vegan, single-origin dark chocolate bars, indulgent spreads, cacao powder, nibs, baking couverture, gift sets, and pantry essentials—all handcrafted by an empowered, all-female team using ethically sourced South Indian cacao.

Every Thursday morning, join their free workshop at 10:30 am to know everything about sustainable periods and their work as a social enterprise.
MG Eco Duties
All Natural, biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning and well-being products that are 100% eco-friendly.
They have liquid household products such as multi-purpose cleaning fluids, grease busters, and laundry cleaning enhancers, followed by fruits and vegetable wash, and hand and body liquid soaps, all containing probiotics.
Also find hand and body solid soaps, dishwashing solid loaves, shampoo bars… And find bamboo toothbrushes there, too.
Natura
Natural, zero waste and locally sourced ingredients. All hand made with no chemicals or artificial substances are used!

From WasteLess raising awareness on waste reduction, to Eco Service managing recycling and composting, and the Upcycling Studio transforming discarded materials into beautiful, functional products—these initiatives show how creativity and community can drive a more sustainable future.
Eco Service
This service manages Auroville’s solid waste: collecting from homes, guesthouses, and units; sorting it; recycling what they can; and aiming as much as possible to reduce landfill. The project also helps raise awareness and promote zero-waste practices.
Every Tuesday, anyone can go volunteer with them.
Egai
Egai is a social enterprise that creates beautiful, eco-friendly handicrafts like bowls, earrings, instruments,… using locally sourced materials such as coconut shells, palm, jute, bamboo, and wood. They also organise workshops.
They support local artisans, youths, and women by preserving traditional craft methods, offering sustainable livelihood, training programs, and awareness of plastic alternatives.
Upcycling Studio
Upcycling Studio transforms what others consider waste into unique, handmade everyday & art objects. Working with materials like PVC, old fabrics, PET bottles, CD-discs, wood, & more, their team creates bags, home decor, jewelry, notebooks, furniture—and even larger installations. They not only produce sustainable goods, but also run workshops, teach upcycling design practices, and raise awareness about creative waste reuse.
Well paper
Wellpaper Auroville is a social enterprise that empowers local women through skill training and sustainable craft. From recycled newspapers and other upcycled materials, they handcraft a wide range of eco-friendly products: baskets, bowls, coasters, jewellery, stationery, home décor and lifestyle accessories.
Waste Less
WasteLess is an educational non-profit dedicated to helping children understand and rethink waste. Through creative, research-based programmes (like Sea Change, kNOw PLASTICS), games and experiments, they engage students aged 6-15 to become responsible about consumption, single-use plastic, recycling, and community action.

Dinesh is the founder of this great initiative. As the son of a farmer who has dedicated 50 years of his life to farming, and with more than 400 years of farming in their family’s history, it naturally made sense that he would pursue farming too.
Samarpanam Farmer’s Market offers fresh & wholesome organic produce from their very own farm, and through a network of local organic farmers we have built a strong relationship with over many years of trust and transparency.

If you want to buy package-free and avoid plastic, visit small local shops in Auroville bioregion. Bring your cloth bag or container, and ask for package free items like dhals,rice… If you can’t see it in the shop, always ask for it as they often have stock in the back of their shop.

Krishnaas Organic Store (now Maa Ilay) is located in White Town, this eco-friendly shop offers a delightful range of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, pantry staples like oils and snacks, and the convenience of prompt delivery service—making green living feel both accessible and wholesome.

Shuddham
Shuddham is a recycling center where they sort out plastic, glass, batteries, cardboard, and all sort of recyclable waste. After segregating they send it back to industries that reuses them as raw or second hand materials.
